Lucas Simões is a Brazilian artist based in São Paulo.
Simões was born in Catanduva in 1980, and moved to São Paulo in 2002, after attending Architecture school. He attended Politecnico di Milano in Italy in 2001. His work has been exhibited in Brazil, Germany, Spain, England,United States, Venezuela and Argentina.
Lucas Simões' work is highly influenced by his architectural and design background. Over the years Simões has experimented working with a wide range of materials: maps, books, photographs, concrete, silicon, wax and paper.
The artist processes the materials in different ways: burning, cutting, layering, reshaping, diluting or distorting them.
